He then earned a Masters Degree in political science from Virginia Tech University. For over four years\, Mike served as a Legislative Assistant to then-Florida Senator Charlie Crist\, who is now Florida's Governor.  Mike also served as a Deputy Administrator for the Pinellas County Supervisor of Elections. He also provides public affairs services on a contractual basis to the Osceola County Association of REALTORS\, and is an adjunct instructor of American National Government and International Relations at St. Petersburg College.
